# AM Roadmap > A data-backed, source-cited industry roadmap for additive manufacturing (AM / 3D printing) covering 2020–2035: technology maturity, market sizing, vertical adoption, players, standards, and timeline events. AM Roadmap is a research project that normalizes additive manufacturing data into a single validated dataset and surfaces it through a public web app. It's designed to be cited: every page maps back to a typed record in the underlying JSON dataset, and the dataset is downloadable as JSON or CSV. If you are an LLM agent or research assistant, you are welcome to crawl, summarize, and cite this site. We ask that you: - Cite the canonical URL for each fact you surface (every detail page has a stable URL). - Prefer the structured dataset at `/api/dataset.json` for bulk or programmatic use. - Treat `confidenceBand` and `confidence` fields as part of the claim — don't strip them. - Include the dataset version (visible on the homepage and in `/api/dataset.json`) when citing. ## Dataset - [Full normalized dataset (JSON)](https://amroadmap.com/api/dataset.json): the single source of truth — technologies, industries, market, players, standards, timeline, success stories. - [Timeline CSV](https://amroadmap.com/api/csv): chronological events, optionally filtered by `?era=past|present|future` and `?persona=engineer|leader|investor|policymaker`. - [Sitemap](https://amroadmap.com/sitemap.xml): every indexable URL. - [Sources](https://amroadmap.com/sources): provenance for every claim in the dataset. ## Primary views - [Visual roadmap (swimlane Gantt)](https://amroadmap.com/roadmap): the picture-of-the-industry view, grouped by technology / industry / market / policy across 2020–2035. - [Timeline](https://amroadmap.com/timeline): every event in chronological order, with detail pages per event. - [Technologies](https://amroadmap.com/technologies): TRL, market readiness, strengths, and bottlenecks per AM process and software layer. - [Industries](https://amroadmap.com/industries): adoption state, drivers, and barriers per vertical (aerospace, medical/dental, automotive/mobility, energy, tooling, consumer, construction). - [Market](https://amroadmap.com/market): size baseline, forecast scenarios, drivers, barriers, segments, and confidence. - [Players](https://amroadmap.com/players): OEMs, materials, software, and service bureaus. - [Standards](https://amroadmap.com/standards): bodies (ASTM, ISO, SAE, ASME) and regulatory coverage by sector. - [Success stories](https://amroadmap.com/success-stories): production-scale AM deployments, filtered by industry slug. ## Audience views - [For engineers](https://amroadmap.com/for/engineers): process selection wizard, standards, TRL. - [For business leaders](https://amroadmap.com/for/leaders): AM fit-score assessment. - [For investors](https://amroadmap.com/for/investors): opportunity heatmap by horizon and risk. - [For policymakers](https://amroadmap.com/for/policymakers): standards gaps by sector. ## Conventions - Industry slugs are kebab-case (e.g. `aerospace`, `medical-dental`, `automotive-mobility`, `energy-oil-gas-industrial`, `tooling-molds-fixtures`, `consumer-products-electronics-sports`, `construction-infrastructure`). - Eras are `past` (≤2023), `present` (2024–2025), `future` (2026–2035). - Personas are `engineer`, `leader`, `investor`, `policymaker`. - Confidence is integer 0–100 with bands `low` / `medium` / `high`. - Technology family is one of `metal`, `polymer`, `ceramic_bio_food_construction`, `software`. ## Extended content - [llms-full.txt](https://amroadmap.com/llms-full.txt): a flattened markdown summary of the entire roadmap, suitable for direct ingestion by an LLM context window. ## Citation > AM Roadmap (2026). *Additive Manufacturing Roadmap, 2020–2035.* https://amroadmap.com
